Caddy Mike Hartford sits down to talk FedExCup

Mike Hartford, long-time caddy of Pat Perez, was recently chimed in from New Jersey, bringing us up to speed on Pat's T9th finish at Greenbrier and this week's first FedExCup event at The Barclays. Check it out:

"Mike Hartford checking in here for PatPerezGolf.com. We're in Paramus, New Jersey for The Barclays after a few weeks off since Pat's T9th finish at Greenbrier. All four rounds were in the 60s (64-69-69-64) and it was one of those weeks, had the putts fallen Pat would've left there with a win.

The final round 64 was really impressive. The six-under round helped us jump about two dozen spots from Saturday to Sunday. The highlight of the round was obviously the eagle on #12. He hit a great tee shot - about 238 yards I believe - to about seven feet and made the putt.

Getting out of West Virginia with T9th finish was a good way to end the 'regular' season, entering the Playoffs. I know Pat worked hard these past few weeks he was off - visiting the Taylor Made facility in Carlsbad, putting in a lot of range time, getting in a round at The Bridges and playing his dad's charity event. He showed up in New Jersey this week well-rested and ready to go.

He has the new Taylor Made Rossa Ghost putter in his bag this week and it'll be the first competitive round he's used it for, which should be interesting.

We enter this week's event 79th in FedExCup points, I believe - which is actually better than our position on the money list - and it will take two pretty weeks out here for us to get into the BWM Championship in Illinois.

From my perspective, based on the year we've had out here, I think a good season would be just making it to Chicago. There's absolutely nothing wrong with finishing Top 70 in the FedExCup standings by the end of the year.

Of course that's based on where we are today, entering the Barclays. A strong finish this week or next and you obviously sit down an reevaluate things. This first event is worth five times as many FedExCup points as a regular tour event, so if you win this one you pick up 2,500 -- the equivalent of winning five regular season events. That's why the guys who win make such a big move in the Playoffs. A good week this week and then you start thinking Atlanta, not before. Right now the goal is just to play solid and take it a week at a time.

Pat is paired with Charlie Hoffman and D.A. Points this week, two guys that he enjoys playing and mentally PP's in a good place coming into this week.

More to come from Boston next week when we head over to the Deutsche Bank Championship."
